Monthly Auxiliary Meeting: Thursday, 3/14/2024, at 5pm

Letter from Donna James, Auxiliary President

Greetings,
Our next Scheduled Monthly Auxiliary Meeting is this Thursday, 3/14/2024, at 5 pm.

In addition to our other discussions, this meeting includes the Nominations for our E-Board Officer Election.

You must have your 2024 Auxiliary Membership Card to nominate a candidate and, be an active 2024 Auxiliary Member and be present to Accept the nomination.

Our Final Election will be held at our monthly meeting on Monday, April 11th at 5 pm.

If more than one candidate is running for said position the final election will be by ballot.

You must have your 2024 Auxiliary Membership card to Vote and to Accept the office. When only one candidate running for office, the ballot will be dispensed with, and the nominee elected.

We have a lot of things on our to-do list that we want to accomplish in support of our Veterans.

Please plan on attending our meetings. We need your help and support by volunteering whatever time you can spare.

See you all at Post 25! – Donna

ROADKILL BINGO Game Hits the Road, Saturday, March 16, 3-5pm!

BINGO meets Cards! Winners take meat home!

Greetings,

Lake Placid Legion Post 25 will officially launch our New “ROADKILL” game on Saturday, March 16 – from 3-5 pm!

Burgers will be sold until 2:30. So come at 2 pm or before, place your order, and get a good seat!

What’s ROADKILL???

ROADKILL is a high-speed game where BINGO collides with CARDS. You can win meats, Door Prizes, and $$$ playing the “V-52” 50/50 game.

Yes! Three ways to WIN!

Here’s how the games work.

Just like BINGO, you buy a laminated ROADKILL card for just $5. You can buy as many ROADKILL cards as you want, just like playing BINGO. Each laminated card has three playing cards. Plus, every Roadkill Bingo Card you buy comes with a Door Prize ticket (no charge).

We will play FIVE Rounds of THREE Games each.

After each round, we take a break and give away some door prizes, and if there are enough attendees, we will offer a fast round of V-52 50/50 at two dollars a chance.

To start, the ROADKILL Emcee will shuffle a deck of playing cards and start calling out cards. “Three of Diamonds!”, “Jack of Hearts!”, “Ten of Clubs!”, etc.

If one of your Roadkill Bingo cards has the called playing card, you place a poker chip on top of that particular card. The goal of course is to have chips on all three of the playing cards on your ROADKILL (Bingo) card. When you get three in a row, call out “ROADKILL!!!”.

You’re the WINNER!

As everyone plays,  you could get two chips on one of your ROADKILL cards and you might get excited and call out pithy sayings like,ALMOST!, or SWERVING!, or CLOSE ONE!, or NEAR MISS!”, or whatever tickles your Funny Bone!

If you want, you can even call the Emcee a funny name for not calling your cards! (be nice!)

Remember, when you get poker chips on ALL THREE called playing cards on your laminated card, shout out, ROADKILL!!!”.

Then you come up to the ROADKILL board where we verify your winning cards and then you get to pick a roadkill critter off the Official Roadkill Board (a Wild Bore, a Moose, a Gator, a Duck, a Squirrel, a Cat, a Chip Monk, a Roadrunner, a Hawk, a Raccoon, a Buffalo, a Turtle, or a Skunk).

Each critter has an assigned meat prize behind the picture that you choose!

It will be a good prize, but you will have the option to trade it in for a much better meat prize!

Or will you feel LUCKY?

If you want, you choose one of the Mystery Grand Prizes behind curtain #1, #2, or #3. (Like the old “Let’s Make a Deal” TV game show)

It is your democratic choice, but be careful because the audience may sway you by yelling out the number of what THEY think is the Mystery Grand Prize! Remember, there is at least ONE gag prize behind a curtain. And all decisions are final.

After we play THREE rounds, we take a break to pick winning Door Prizes, and play a fast round of our “V-52 50/50 game, if enough people are in attendance.

What is the V-52 50/50 game???

For just $2 bucks you buy a playing card from one of our assistants (you can buy more if you like) from a tray of face-down playing cards.

Then you TEAR THE CARD IN HALF! You keep one half and the other half goes into the bucket.

When all 52 cards have been sold, the Emcee will pull a torn card from our bucket, announce the card, and the winner gets $52 BUCKS!

BAM! Just TWO BUCKS can get you FIFTY-TWO BUCKS!

Then, we go back and play another ROADKILL round (a total of 5 rounds are played). We pick the Door Prizes and play V-52 50/50 during the breaks between rounds.

That is ROADKILL!

The game is easy and goes fast. It’s inexpensive to play; also funny and never boring.

Meat prizes include – beef, chicken, or pork.

Door prizes are bottles of wine, candies, and snacks.

Other American Legions have offered Roadkill Bingo over the years and it is always a blast!!

We invite you to come out Saturday, March 16 from 3-5 pm, have some fun, some laughs, a few drinks, and win some meats, some wine, AND MAYBE EVEN SOME CA$H!

Invite your friends and fill a table! Get there early for a good seat and order a burger if you wish.

Proceeds support veterans.

See you at Post 25!

If you have been to Post 25 in the last week you no doubt saw that local mural artist, Keith Goodson has started our mural, and it’s BEAUTIFUL!

Late last Monday afternoon Keith set up his bucket lift in front of the mural boards and as the sun went down he started to outline the final approved layout. The following day, Keith got right to work. Continue reading “Our American Legion Post 25 Mural is Under Way!”
