Memorial Day weekend is here. It’s time for all of us to take time aside from our holiday activities and remember those who gave everything so that we can live FREE in the United States of America.
A BIG THANKS to everyone who came out to Oak Hill Cemetery early Saturday morning to put American flags on the gravestones of our great Vets who are buried there. It was a beautiful, warm, breezy morning for such a solemn occasion.
A few announcements
Monday, May 27, 2024, is officially Memorial Day. Lake Placid, Florida American Legion Post 25 will have a special commemoration event starting at Noon. 2nd Vice Commander Denise Williams has a commanding public speaking voice and will deliver a tribute to our Vets who served and those who gave all. Please come early!
You will not want to miss this!
Afterward, Post 25 will be serving “American food”, hamburgers, hot dogs, and cheeseburgers!
Also, BRAVO to the Auxiliary of Florida’s District 8. At last week’s District 8 meeting, it was announced that the Post 25 Auxiliary is NUMBER ONE in District 8 membership!!! Congrats to everyone who helped make that possible!
A Few Announcements
* Post 25 Queen of Hearts Game – It seems that many of our snowbird members have gone back up north. Consequently, we have not been selling enough tickets to keep the game paying for itself. So, we will bring back the Queen of Hearts game in the fall after the snowbirds return.
* Friday Night 50/50 will continue through the summer months.
* New Summer Hours: Effected immediately, Post 25 will be open for business Mon – Fri from 2 PM until Closing. Saturday – 11 to closing. Sunday – 1 to closing.
* Starting June 1, 2024, Post 25 will host daily Happy Hour from 4-7 pm with Bar Food.
* The New, Appetizing Bar Food & Happy Hour Drink Pricing will be announced soon.
* In light of the new Post 25 daily Happy Hour from 4-7 pm (as of June 1st), note that Effective immediately, the Post 25 Bar will no longer be offering the following drink specials:
No more $1 draft beers on Mondays and Tuesdays
No more $2 Bloody Marys on Mondays and Saturdays
No more $3 Margaritas on Tuesdays.
On June First, look for the new Happy Hour drink prices.
* Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, and Create-A-Pizza Thursday will be replaced with the Daily Happy Hour and the Bar Food Menu.
* Friday Night Dinner: “Fry-Fish-Day” from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
* July 4th Weekend Post 25 Family Picnic: Saturday, July 6, 2024, starting at 11 AM. Chicken leg quarters and brisket will be served, starting at 1 pm and Calico 80 will rock the house starting a 2 PM. Everyone is invited to bring a hot or cold side dish, and, or a desert.
Post 25’s goal for June is to complete our backyard beautification project which will include the painting of the sheds and our refurbished BBQ pit, the repainting of the back Tiki Bar, and our new Camo Tent that will be adjacent to the BBQ Pit. The Camo Tent will have tables and chairs, umbrellas, party lights, and a cooling mister.
