Monday, September 11, 2023, will be a day of solemn remembrance and thanks to our great Veterans and First Responders at Lake Placid Legion Post 25.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Commander Fred Pierce will preside over our annual 9-11 Remembrance for all those who lost their lives and America’s great First Responders.
9-11 is always a solemn occasion, as we all remember exactly where we were when we learned of the terrible news from New York City.
Immediately after the 9-11 commemoration, we will celebrate a happy event, the dedication of Post 25’s beautiful new mural, designed and painted by renowned local mural artist, Keith Goodson.
The official name of the mural is, “Remembering Veterans”.
Depicted in Keith’s design is the official American Legion logo, flanked by a rendition of a World War 1 Army Doughboy on the left and a modern Army warrior on the right.
Along the bottom of the mural, Keith depicts Lake Placid’s famous Caladium fields, the Lake Placid Tower, the Lake Placid Oak Hill Cemetery, Florida palm trees, and an American flag.
Legion Post 25 is a short distance south of the Lake Placid City Limits. This means that travelers moving south on Rt. 27 will see Legion Post 25’s mural first as they enter Lake Placid.
And thanks to Keith Goodson’s inclusion of Lake Placid design elements, our mural will be part of the Lake Placid, “The Town of Murals” collection of unique murals and part of the Lake Placid Mural Society.
Our new mural is a project initiated earlier this year by the new Sons of the American Legion Commander, Jake Gordon. So, a big “THANKS” should go out to Jake for his visionary project.
We hope to see all of you on Monday, September 11, before 9 a.m.
Just a reminder, Friday night we will be serving Prime Rib and Fried Fish dinner and Randy Sullens will be rock’n the oldies! Also, there will be a 50/50 drawing, “Dinner For Two” giveaway tickets, and the Queen of Hearts Take-Home payout is up to $9,117!!!

Then on Saturday, there will be Burgers and Chips from 12 noon to 2 pm. Sunday, Jay & Lora will be belting out the hits from 5 pm to 8 pm.
