Thursday Night Dance-Pizza Party 70s, 80s & 90s Rock’n Roll!

Greetings!

   Just a reminder that the music theme for this week’s Thursday Night Dance Pizza Party will be great fast and slow dance hits from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s! It’s pop music most of us grew up listening to. And the tunes still ROCK!

So that you have more time for pizza, the Dance music will start at 6:00 pm and wrap up at 8:00 pm. The Legion Mess Hall Kitchen opens at 4:30 for pizzas, large and small sizes.

Come on out, get a pie, bring your dance’n shoes, and your best disco moves! Leisure suits, bell bottoms, and hot pants are welcome!

Post 25 is in need of some great Volunteers!

The American Legion (and all Veterans groups) are volunteer organizations. The Legionnaires, the Sons, and the Auxiliary plan fundraising and entertainment events to raise money for Vets and to cover overhead expenses.

The events are organized and staged by volunteers. The best way to get help with projects is to ask. So, we are listing our volunteer tasks with contacts on our new Volunteers Boards.

At Post 25’s front entrance, next to the Queen of Hearts update whiteboard there’s our new Volunteers Board. There’s a similar Volunteers whiteboard next to the Mess Hall kitchen counter just inside the south-side entrance.

Here’s what we need help with as of today…

Kitchen Help: Contact our Mess Hall Kitchen Manager, Peg Robinson at 863-633-9760.

Saturday Grill Help: Contact our Mess Hall Kitchen Manager, Peg Robinson at 863-633-9760.

Yard Party Help – January 16, 2024: Contact Jake Gordon at 304-482-7387. While the weather is cool, we’re working to spiff up our grounds.

Social Media Director: We are looking for someone who is skilled and has a passion for Social Media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc. Contact Scott at 863-840-5121.

January 13, 2024: The David Morin Elvis & Rock’n Roll Oldies Show – We need 2 assistants in the kitchen. Contact Kitchen Manager, Jeg Robinson at 863-633-9760.

January 27, 2024: Golf Scramble at the Golf Hammock Country Club. All of our officers will be at the country club, but we could use some more help out on the greens. Also, lunch will be served back at Post 25 and we need help decorating the Dining Hall and in the Mess Hall Kitchen. To help at the country club or with decorating, contact Office Manager, Brandi at 863-465-0975, Monday-to-Friday, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

February 10, 2024: Valentine’s Day Dinner & Dance. We need 2 assistants in the kitchen. Contact Kitchen Manager, Peg Robinson at 863-633-9760. Also, we need help decorating the Dining Hall. Contact Office Manager, Brandi at 863-465-0975, Monday-to-Friday, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Auxiliary Bake Sales: The Auxiliary would like to create a team of members to help sell the cookies, brownies, and cakes at events. The desserts are all donated, so this is a tidy profit project. Contact Auxiliary President Donna James at 954-465-4875.

FYI, Queen of Hearts Update!

The Queen of Hearts Jack Pot is now up to $13,767!!!

Get your tickets at the Bar or from 6 pm to 7:45 pm Friday. The drawing is after the 50/50 drawing at 8 pm. You have to play to win!

If there’s no winner tonight, next week’s Jack Pot will be OVER $14,000!!!

Rock’n Roll Dance-Pizza Party – Bring your BEST moves!

Thursday night is Post 25’s weekly “Create a Pizza” night from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Pizza is one of the best-loved bar foods there is! We were thinking of how we could make Thursday evenings more fun at Post 25. Here’s what we’re doing.

We have noticed how our patrons love to “shake it on the dance floor” on Friday nights. So, we decided to combine DANCING with PIZZA and ROCK’N ROLL DANCE MUSIC!

That gets us the Thursday night, Rock’n Roll Dance-Pizza Party!

Each week starting January 18, 2024, from 5 pm to 7:30 pm we will present 2-1/2 hours of solid-dance-beat and love song music for everyone to groove to. The 2nd Thursday of every month is the Auxiliary Meeting, so on that night, the Rock’n Roll Dance-Pizza Party will be from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.

The music will be from the actual artists that made the hits we all grew up hearing. You’ll hear the original recording (and some re-mixes) by the original artists that sang and played the hits: the Beatles, Elvis, the Stones, Credence, Santana, the Four Seasons, Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, Billy Joel, the Bee Gees, and more.

Every week there will be a new mix of songs and different themes.

Themes will include: 50s & 60s, 60s & 70s, 70s, 80s & Early 90s, Soul & Funk, 50s, 60s & 70s Classic Country, 70s & 80s Country Outlaw, and 40s & 50s Big Bands. Something for everyone!

So, we invite you to come out on Thursdays, hang out with us, have a pizza from our Mess Hall, and dance holes in your shoes! Bring your best moves and a friend!
